Pat McFadden appointed as Labour’s Shadow Minister for Europe
Speaking from the European Parliament in Strasbourg, Theresa Griffin, Labour MEP for the North West of England, has welcomed Pat McFadden as the new Shadow Minister for Europe.
“I’m delighted that Pat is joining Labour’s Euro team, especially in the run up to next year’s General Election”, Ms Griffin said.
“I have had the pleasure of working closely with Pat and look forward to achieving a joint ambition of ensuring that Europe delivers opportunity for all regardless of their background.”
Pat McFadden said on his appointment that he wants to “make the hard-headed, patriotic case for both Britain in Europe and for change in Europe so that it works for working people.
“Labour believes that Europe can and must be made to work better for Britain but we understand that the right road for Britain is change in Europe, not exit from Europe.”
